Several groups recently donated to the Floyd County Fair.

State Bank held a “Cookin’ for a Cause” event to support the Floyd County Fairgrounds tornado recovery efforts. Bank staff and the Charles City Lion’s Club served pancakes for a freewill donation, raising $1,002.29.

The bank and the club each matched donations up to $500, resulting in a total of $2,002.29 donated to the Fair Society.

Also, during the Floyd County Fair, members of the Charles City Fire Department donated a large American flag to the fairgrounds. The flag is the same size as the one flown from the department’s aerial truck on special occasions.

“We hope the fair will get good use out of the flag for many years to come,” said Fire Chief Eric Whipple.
