Press Staff Report

A two-vehicle collision Saturday morning at an intersection north of Rudd resulted in the death of a 9-year-old child and four other injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Jesse Duane Blade, age 29, was driving a 2015 Ford Taurus northbound on Glass Avenue north of Rudd toward the intersection with Rudd Park Road/Business 18.

Blade failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and struck broadside a 2003 Ford Windstar that was headed east on Rudd Park Road, according to the State Patrol report. The Windstar was being driven by Ronald Paul Fisher, age 57.

The report said Royce G. Fisher, age 9, was killed as a result of the crash.

Injured in the accident were the two drivers, Blade and Fisher, as well as Sarah June Fisher, age 50, and Aidyn D. Kline, age 11. The accident report did not specify in which vehicles the injured passengers were riding, or if there were other passengers.

No hometowns for the persons involved in the accident were listed on the State Patrol report as of Sunday. An online search identified a Ronald Paul Fisher and Sarah June Fisher with matching ages as residents of Mason City.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Rudd Fire and Rescue, Nora Springs Fire and Ambulance, AMR ambulance, MercyOne Air Med and the Mason City Fire Department.
