Anglers win awards at Rudd Ice Fishing Frenzy

By Kelly Terpstra, kterpstra@charlescitypress.com

The second annual Rudd Ice Fishing Frenzy brought out almost 200 anglers to Rudd Lake this past Saturday.

Floyd County Conservation hosted the event and prizes were awarded for the biggest sized fish that was pulled out of the icy water.

Floyd County Naturalist Heidi Reams said 194 people participated and 32 fish were caught during the three-hour event. At last year’s inaugural event, 110 fishermen took to the frozen lake in an attempt to haul in the big one. There were also 32 fish caught at that ice fishing tournament in 2019.

“Even though fishing was a little slow, we heard many positive comments from the participants,” said Reams.

The Rudd Volunteer Fire Department hosted a lunch just down from Rudd Park that raised funds for the firefighters. An awards ceremony took place and prizes were handed out.
