Easter came a few hours early for Kerrigan Venz.

The Charles City 4-year-old was able to seek and claim her eggs and other prizes Saturday evening, rather than Sunday morning, in advance of the cold, wet weather that was expected.

And the Easter Bunny had a little help with the delivery.

With church and community Easter egg hunts canceled by COVID-19 concerns, two Charles City businesses and a service club took it upon themselves to offer some Easter egging.

Hy-Vee donated plastic eggs and candy and the Rustic Corner provided organizational and egg-stuffing help before members of the Charles City Rotary Club helped the Easter Bunny hide the eggs in the yards of Charles City residents on Saturday evening.

The Rotary Club said the hunt was a great way for families to add fun to the day while staying safe at home.

The cost was $10 for 20 eggs, and the club said it raised more than $1,000 to help support club community activities.
