Press Staff Report

Sixteen vintage military aircraft dropped in for a visit and lunch Friday at the Northeast Iowa Airport near Charles City.

The pilots decided to get together and do a little weekend flying because the 68th annual Oshkosh, Wisconsin, EAA AirVenture Air Show that had been scheduled for July 20-26 was canceled because of COVID-19 concerns.

Airport Manager Bill Kyle jokingly referred to the gathering as “Noshkosh” since there is no Oshkosh air show this year.

The planes also spent part of the weekend at the Mason City Municipal Airport.
