The Charles City School district reported no new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, one case on Wednesday and one on Tuesday. Both of those positive tests were of staff members at Charles City High School. As of Thursday, there have now been 43 individuals in the school district who have tested positive since the start of the school year.

The district reported three individuals quarantined on Tuesday, one each at the middle school, Washington Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. A total of 148 individuals in the district have been quarantined since the start of the school year. Quarantined individuals have been in close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. This person they came in contact with is not necessarily connected with the school.

The school district receives notification of positive tests from Floyd County Public Health. Upon receiving notification of the positive tests, the district temporarily closed off all areas of the building the individuals used to clean and disinfect the spaces.

Individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 will be allowed to return to school once they are 24 hours with no fever and symptoms are improving, and 10 days since symptoms started. If no symptoms, 10 days from the day of the test. The campus attendance office will monitor the return date.
