Elementary Christmas shopping
Washington Elementary students Draya-Lynn Holtz and Dellia Sturgis do some shopping at the Washington Elementary Christmas Store on Thursday. The store gives the kids an opportunity to shop for family members. Instructional Educational Coach Kellie Boggess explained that since it’s hard for children that age to go shopping — especially this year — items are donated by teachers, staff members and several community members for the students to choose. Students from Charles City High School come down to help the youngsters out with the gift-wrapping, and the presents are ready to be placed under the tree for Mom, Dad or a brother or sister.
