The “Master Blenders” got to work at about 6 a.m. Saturday — the day after Christmas — and by all reports, business was good.

Also, business was refreshingly healthy.

The McCoy Smoothies & More, featuring real fruit smoothies and other healthy treats, was officially open for business.

The smoothie bar is located alongside Snap Fitness at 220 N. Main St., and is owned and operated by Jay and Marlowe Jung, who also own Snap Fitness.

Marlowe Jung said she was excited to get started Saturday, and that the establishment had a great turnout for its opening.

“I think it will be a nice addition to our downtown Main Street,” she said. “It’s great to have a bustling Main Street, and I hope this adds to that.”

The Jungs opened Snap Fitness at the spot three years ago. The facility offers gym memberships and fitness training, with a large room full of cardio and exercise equipment, open to members 24 hours per day. Marlowe Jung said that although the two businesses are physically connected, they are separate entities.

She said The McCoy smoothie bar is open to the public, and a Snap Fitness membership is not required.

“They are two completely separate businesses. We just thought it was nice to have it right next door so we can use the space,” Jung said. “Folks at Snap Fitness can just bounce right over and get themselves a post-workout and pre-workout drink at The McCoy, but folks can come in off the street, too.”

In fact, Jung said The McCoy is counting on that.

“We’re right across the street from Central Park, and we’re hoping this will be a good quick stop for people when they’re taking part in festivities, during the summer and all year round,” she said.

There is a wide variety of specialty smoothies offered on the menu — everything from “Berry Blast Off” to “Orange Oasis” to “Peanut Butter Cup,” as well as more traditional fruit smoothies, coffee blends, push-ups and other healthy snack items. Smoothies can be boosted with extra protein, vitamins or other options.

Jung said that the name “The McCoy” derives from her husband’s family, and it is also their son’s middle name. Also, she said, she just “liked the sound of it.”

“We like the vibe,” she said. “It’s like ‘the real McCoy,’ as in the real deal, in regard to the recipes and ingredients that we have and the blends that we make with the smoothies.”

Initially, The McCoy is scheduled to be open Mondays through Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jung said those hours could be adjusted as business progresses, depending on the needs of the community.
