Creative projects were on display Saturday morning at Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Charles City, as the school held its 10th annual Literacy Fair.

“They can be as creative as they want to,” said IC 5th-and-6th-grade teacher Stephani Barry, one of the event’s organizers. “They can showcase their artistic abilities.”

Students who wished to could choose a book and make a project about it, with certain criteria to follow and certain components that had to be included. Any IC student could participate, either solo or with one partner, and Barry said that there were two more projects this year than there were last year.

Each project is judged, students are also judged on interview questions, and students in grades 3-6 are also judged on a writing component. Students also participated in many games and other activities.

“I think it’s really cool that this is the 10th year it’s happened,” Barry said. “It’s because of the support of people in our school that we are able to keep doing this.”
