Charles City FFA attends state leadership conference

The Charles City FFA represented the community well last week at the 93rd Annual Iowa FFA Leadership Conference, which took place in Des Moines.

More than 4,000 FFA members and guests from across the state gathered to learn about careers in the agriculture industry, compete in various events, and shape the future of the Iowa FFA Association.

For Charles City FFA members, the Marketing Plan team of Lydia Staudt, Brayton Quade and Delaney Ruzicka finished 6th Place Gold, Aubrey Hoeft and Madison Haus both received Gold Ratings in the Greenhand Quiz, and the Poultry Evaluation team of Colton Anderegg, Kalia Richard, Lukas Vance and Taylor Quade received a Silver rating and was 5th in the test.

Charles City’s Justin Heyer was recognized for his state-winning Landscape Management Proficiency while Lauren Staudt was state runner-up for Service Learning Proficiency.

Justin Heyer was also a Star Over Iowa finalist in Agribusiness, while Drew Staudt was a Star Over Iowa finalist in Ag Production. Staudt also earned 3rd Place Gold in Ag Sales. Charles City’s Kiki Connell was recognized on stage for Charles City’s 4th place National Chapter Award.

Gillian Anderson, Quincy Bill, Evan Bjelica, Kiki Connell, Ally Faulkner, Justin Heyer, Daniel Laube, Sarah Mitchell, Cael Ruzicka, Alec Staudt and Drew Staudt all received their Iowa FFA Degrees.

Bronson Forsyth wrapped up his year as the North Central District state vice president.

Charles City’s Ag Issues Team of Gillian Anderson, Sofie Nettleton, Sarah Mitchell, Daniel Laube, Ashlyn Hoeft, Brady Frascht, and Brayton Quade finished 4th place Gold, while Charles City’s Parliamentary Procedure team of Lydia Staudt, Lilly Luft, Natalie White, Olivia Litterer and Zach Chambers received a Silver.

Charles City’s Chapter Exhibit team of Annemarie Hansen, Evan Salinas, Lauren Staudt and Maggie Boss received a Silver.
