Mason City man charged in Rockford break-ins

Burglary and criminal mischief charges have been filed against a Mason City man in connection with alleged burglaries of a residence in Charles City by him and a Charles City woman.

Ryan Matthew Allen, age 38, of Mason City, was charged with three counts of burglary in the third degree, each a Class D felony, as well as criminal mischief in the second degree, also a Class D felony.

According to documents filed in Floyd County District Court, Allen is accused of forcing entry into a home in the 1200 block of 215th Street in Rockford and taking items and damaging two safes on June 9, forcing entry again to the same residence on June 12 and taking more items, and breaking in for a third time to the same home on June 15 and taking items.

Court documents say that the caretaker for the property had installed trail cameras after the first alleged break-in and had captured pictures of a man and a woman and two different vehicles. Through the investigation by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and with the aid of the Mason City Police Department the man was identified as Allen and the woman was identified as Sarah Sue Schilling, of Charles City, the documents say.

Allen was arrested by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 7 at the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000 or 10% cash.

Allen pleaded not guilty and f​​iled a motion for a bond review hearing, which was scheduled for Aug. 31. Trial for Allen has been scheduled for Sept. 16.

Schilling, age 40, was also charged with three counts of burglary in the third degree, each a Class D felony, and one count of criminal mischief in the second degree, also a Class D felony. Her arraignment has been scheduled for Aug. 31.
