Two Mason City residents killed in collision with Charles City driver

Two Mason City residents died as a result of a head-on collision with a vehicle driven by a Charles City woman Saturday afternoon, 2 miles west of Colwell.

According to the report by the Iowa State Patrol, Casey Lindahl, age 28, of Charles City, was driving a 2012 Ford Edge southbound on Underwood Drive near 140th Street when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on.

The collision occurred at 2:09 p.m.

The other vehicle, a 2019 Ford Flex, was being driven by Chris Andersen, age 77, of Mason City. Andersen and a passenger in his vehicle, Anita Andersen, Age 76, of Mason City, were both killed as a result of injuries received in the crash.

Lindahl and another person in her vehicle, a 3-year-old child, received minor injuries and were transported to Floyd County Medical Center by AMR ambulance.

All four persons were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol report said.

The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting the State Patrol at the scene were the Colwell Fire Department, Floyd Fire Department, AMR ambulance and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
