Firefighters from Rockford, Marble Rock, Nora Springs and Floyd responded to a large fire Saturday night in facilities that are part of the H.E. Trettin hog operations on the west end of Rockford.

“There was nothing that could be done to save the office and storage building by the time the fire was discovered, but thanks to you the nearby feed mill was saved,” Kenneth Trettin posted on the Rockford Fire Department Facebook page.

Louise Seibert said, “Our family wants to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all the fire departments that helped us tonight. We are at a loss for words, but thanks to all your efforts, our feed mill is safe and we will be able to make feed for our livestock.

The Trettin and the Seibert families own the facilities, which consist of seven sites in or around Rockford.
