Soup’s on!

The Charles City Rotary Club will hold its annual Rotary Soup Supper on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Charles City.

Charles City Rotary Club Soup Supper will be drive-thru on Saturday, Jan. 15The supper this year will be a drive-thru event because of COVID-19 concerns, and the meals will be available for a freewill offering.

On the carryout menu are three kinds of soups — chicken noodle, Wisconsin cheese and chili — as well as beer bread, relishes and pie.

The meals will be brought to the patrons’ vehicles from the west kitchen door of the lodge. Drivers are asked to enter the farthest west parking lot entrance and drive through the parking lot so the driver’s side is facing the kitchen door. Signs will be posted to guide the way.

The soup supper is one of several fundraisers the Rotary Club holds throughout the year to support community projects and scholarships. Past projects have included free fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide detectors for community members, infant safety kits, tree-planting projects, park projects and playground equipment.

This spring, new bleachers will be installed at the softball field at Sportsman’s Park. Fundraisers also support annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

Coming up on Saturday, Feb. 5th, the annual Rotary Radio Auction will take place on KCHA radio. This year the Rotary Club is welcoming TLC: The Learning Center to participate in the radio auction to support the child care center’s move to its new home in the North Grand Building.
