Floyd County attorney, recorder are first to file for reelection

The current Floyd County attorney and Floyd County recorder have both filed to run for reelection this week, the first elected countywide officials to indicate they are seeking another term.

County Attorney Rachel Ginbey and County Recorder Amy Assink both turned in their nomination papers, according to information from the Floyd County Auditor’s Office, which is in charge of elections.

In addition, at least one person has filed candidacy for positions in eight of the county’s 12 townships.

They are:

• Cedar Township – Trustee, David Wetherell; clerk, Amy Johnson.

• Floyd Township – Trustee, Duane Folz; clerk, Theresa Stewart.

• Pleasant Grove Township – Trustee, Dennis Gabe.

• Riverton Township – Trustee, Robert Mondt.

• Rock Grove Township – Trustee, Michael Shanks.

• Rudd Township – Trustee, Dustin Straube and Larry Bortz.

• Saint Charles Township – Trustee, Dennis Sanvig.

• Union Township – Trustee, Ricky Rex and Mark Schlader

Floyd County offices whose seats are open in the Nov. 8 election are:

• County supervisor (3 districts).

• County attorney.

• County treasurer.

• County recorder.

• Floyd County Medical Center trustee (four seats).

Area state offices that are on the ballot this year are:

• Iowa House District 58.

• Iowa House District 6.

• Iowa Senate District 29.

• Iowa Senate District 30.

Statewide offices:

• Governor/lt. governor.

• Secretary of state.

• Auditor of state.

• Treasurer of state.

• Secretary of agriculture.

• Attorney general.

Federal offices:

• U.S. House District 2.

• U.S. Senate.

The filing deadline for Floyd County offices is 5 p.m. Friday, March 25. in the County Auditor’s Office.
