Samuel Frank Dight

Samuel Frank Dight, age 27, pleaded guilty earlier this month to a charge of willful injury causing bodily harm, a Class D felony. That charge was reduced from an initial charge of robbery in the second degree, a Class C felony, in return for his guilty plea.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Floyd County District Court, Dight struck another person in the face, causing bruising and pain, while trying to steal money and other property from the victim. The incident occurred on Allison Street on July 27, 2021.

As part of the plea agreement, the Floyd County Attorney’s Office agreed to recommend a sentence of an indeterminate term not to exceed five years, to run concurrently with a sentence of an indeterminate term not to exceed 10 years in prison that Dight received in 2019 after pleading guilty to a charge of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver methamphetamine, a Class C felony, and driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.

That 2019 sentence had been ordered to run concurrently with a sentence from 2017, when Dight was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed five years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a Class D felony.
