CCHS students put artwork on display at CCAC

Artwork created by more than 60 Charles City High School students in grades 9-12 is now on display for public view for the rest of the month of April at the Charles City Arts Center.

Categories of artwork include wheel-thrown pottery, sculpture, hand-built pottery, drawing, painting, photography, digital design, mixed media design and printmaking.

The CCAC held an opening reception for the students on Tuesday. Many of the young artists were on hand for the reception, which was the first in-person show since 2019. Awards were presented for Best of Show, Best 3-D artwork and best 2-D artwork.

Tino Tamayo was awarded Best of Show, while awards for best 3-D work went to Jacob Sindlinger, Jaxon Houdek and Tamayo. Best 2-D artwork was awarded to Janila Toney and Deven Ignacio-Castillo.

Honorable mentions awards went to Toney, Ignacio-Castillo, Brinn Lahr, Houdek, Tamayo, Ava Ellis, Alyciah Salinas, Reed Peters, Jillian Mutch, Colton Crooks, Morgan Bettesworth, Kali Jones, Katelyn Miller, Sindlinger, Jemya Price and Ally Wedeking.
