Freeze Frame bowling alley in Greene celebrates 15 years

Clark and Shayne Freesemann bought Freeze Frame Bowl back in 2007 on a whim. Before they bought the bowling alley, she worked for a lawyer and he worked for a manufacturing business.
They’d never owned a business before, but on April 27, 2007, the bowling alley was theirs. They bought some updated equipment from a bowling alley in Illinois and got to work.
“There’s so many things going on in manufacturing that can transfer to a bowling alley,” Clark said in an interview with the Press. “Those best principles transfer to the next business.”
Fifteen years later, the business is gearing up to celebrate its anniversary in a big way. Although the actual anniversary was back in April, Clark said they’re waiting for warmer weather to hold the celebration, because they’re planning on having it outdoors and possibly having a live band play at the party.
Clark said one of the best parts of owning the bowling alley is getting to see all the people who come in. He said he’s seen people come in from all over Iowa and from other states.
“We get to see a lot of people. We’re seeing so many people from so many walks of life,” Clark said. “We have met so many people along the way.”
A business doesn’t survive 15 years without making some changes, though. Clark said they’re looking to revamp the business plan and change up the menu at the restaurant that is attached to the bowling alley, the Splitz Bar and Grill.
After 15 years, Freeze Frame Bowl isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
“We’re glad to be in the area,” Clark said. “The town of Greene has supported us so well and then the surrounding communities have supported us as well. One of things we’ve always said is ‘we don’t expect people to walk into our building, but we’re so grateful that they choose to join us for the evening.’”
