The party is back in Charles City beginning Friday, June 10th, with the return of the Party in the Park series in Central Park.

Now in its 19th year, Party in the Park has become a community summer staple with its free live music, food vendors, beer garden, various activities and fellowship.

Organized by Main Street Charles City, this year’s Party in the Park days are June 10, June 24, July 1 and Aug. 12, with the fun starting at 5 p.m. and going until 9 p.m. each of those Friday nights.

There is no admission fee and all ages are welcome.

Opening things up on June 10th will be the “Iowa raised, Ireland rooted” band Blame Not The Bard, a high-energy trio formed in 2015 on a mission “to bring the stories of Ireland alive … and to have fun doing it.”

“Be prepared to get your feet moving and your hands clapping as you get your Irish on with their songs, stories, jigs and fiddling,” according to information from Main Street Charles City.

The group has played throughout Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and South Dakota.

The theme of the opening night will be “Games Night,” with activities offered such as lawn games, Tug-of-War, Ring Toss, a kids relay race organized by Synergy, the Boy Scout pedal cars and possibly one or two others.

The Iowa Conservation Station will also be on hand with a water quality, soil health and wildlife habitat display.

Food trucks scheduled to be there that night are Cal’s Doughnuts, Cookie Doughtique, Hy-Vee, Island Grill, Maria’s Tacos and Pat’s BBQ.

The June 10th Party is being sponsored by CUSB Bank, Fareway, Hometown Dental, Larry Pump CPA, Synergy Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine and Trelleborg Wheel Systems America.

This year’s Party in the Park tokens, which are $1 each and used as currency in the park for all of the food, drink and games, will be a blast from the past – the original white 2003 tokens. Only these particular tokens will be accepted. Other year tokens will not be accepted and there will be no refunds for leftover tokens.
