Mobile food bank distribution will be June 20

To The Press

A mobile food pantry food distribution is scheduled for Monday, June 20, available for anyone who wants to take advantage of it.

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank announced the first mobile food pantry event of the summer will be held from 5-6 p.m. Monday at the Charles City High School.

“Anyone can utilize this resource, with only a short registration process required,” The Food Bank announced. “It is not necessary to bring anything for registration, but an ID is helpful and expedites this process.”

People who are using the service are asked to follow these guidelines:

• Do not arrive more than 30 minutes before the distribution.

• Remain in your vehicles with your trunks open and/or doors unlocked.

• Have empty space in your vehicle for the products to be loaded.

Another mobile food pantry distribution will be held Monday, July 18, again from 5-6 p.m. at the Charles City High School. Future dates and location after July are yet to be determined, the Food Bank said.

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank distributes food and grocery products to 168 nonprofit organizations and programs that help families and individuals with food assistance. Last year, the Food Bank distributed more than 9.4 million meals within a 16-county service area.

The Food Bank oversees eight programs that serve its area communities: Member Agency Distribution, Cedar Valley Food Pantry, Backpack Program, Kids Cafe, Elderly Nutrition, Mobile Food Pantries, Summer Feeding and a Community Garden. The Food Bank is a member of the Iowa Food Bank Association and Feeding America.
