Four Charles City High School students selected for All-State Festival

Four Charles City High School students have been selected to participate in the Iowa All-State Festival in chorus, band and orchestra.

Tryouts for Charles City’s district were held last weekend at Hampton-Dumont High School in Hampton. Selected for participation in the prestigious festival and their positions are:

  • Anders Haglund – chorus, tenor; this is his third year being selected to All-State.
  • Sophia Jensen – band, flute; second year selection to All-State.
  • Katie Heckers – chorus, alto.
  • Lillian Eagen – orchestra, violin.

The 76th Annual Iowa All-State Festival will be held Friday, Nov. 17, to Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Iowa State University campus in Ames, with the Festival Concert to be held Saturday, Nov. 19, at Hilton Coliseum. Awards will be announced at 7:15 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“The Iowa All-State Music Festival is a regional representation of the finest high school musicians Iowa has,” according to the Iowa High School Music Association.
