Nora Springs man hits $100,000 lottery scratcher jackpot

A Nora Springs man who said he buys lottery tickets “every now and then” hit a $100,000 prize recently.

Anthony Moore, age 34, won the second top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Hit It Big!” scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Casey’s in Nora Springs.

“I go in there and buy $10 tickets every now and then and I just switch up what I buy,” he said.

Moore claimed his prize Friday at the lottery’s Mason City regional office. He said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills and save the rest.

Hit It Big! is a $10 scratch game that features 10 top prizes of $100,000 and overall odds of 1 in 2.96. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 116,808, according to the Iowa Lottery.

As of Friday, there were eight top $100,000 prizes left in the game, which is one of more than 60 scratch games currently available, ranging in price from $1 to $30 and featuring top prizes ranging from $100 to $300,000.
