The students at Central Preschool got a special visit from the FFA on Wednesday, April 5, as Delany Ruzicka, Zach Chambers, Trevor Carolan and Everett Schmitt brought over some furry friends.
The kids have been learning about community helpers, with this week being focused on veterinarians and animal farmers. With Central Preschool Co-Director Dusty Schmitt also being Everett’s mom, it was easy to arrange a visit from goats Dolly Parton and June Carter, along with Ruzicka’s calf.
“The calf, named Coffee, was a big hit,” said Schmitt. “They were shocked to find out that even the tongue of a black angus is black.”
Coming up next for the students in their Community Helper unit, they will be touring the local fire station and airport, along with meeting a dentist, police officer, superintendent and postal worker.
“We have such a wonderful community and so many people willing to come in and explain the professions,” said Schmitt. “It’s great for the students to get used to seeing new people while feeling safe in their familiar environment.”
