The hunt was on at Elks Lodge on Saturday, April 8 as area kids came out to look for candy filled eggs for the annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt.
“We didn’t realize how many eggs we had back here,” said Leading Knight Zach Sullivan, who organized the event.
It took a dozen volunteers hours of stuffing and hiding the lodge’s 1,400 plastic eggs for the event, but only about 20 minutes for the candy-crazed kids to pick the grounds clean.
“When it comes to candy, it doesn’t take these kids long to find it,” said Sullivan.
With baskets and bags full of eggs in hand, the kids returned to the lodge to sort out their haul of candy while their parents enjoyed cookies and lemonade.
Refreshments were donated to the lodge by an anonymous employee at Hy-Vee while Ron Hellman donated candy for the hunt.
