A new set of hands is pressing dough at Cedar River Pizza Co.

Wylie and Diana Childs, owners of Childs Family Farm, are now also the new owners of Joel and Gillian Biggerstaff’s downtown carryout pizza place.

A transition months in the making, Cedar River Pizza Co. officially opened up under the Childs family on Thursday, June 22, ready to continue serving up pizza to the community.

“We’re going to continue doing what we have going on,” said Wylie Childs.

The Childs family is excited to jump into the pizza business, but has their eye on expansion in the future. Along with pizzas, the family hopes to introduce Mexican food to the menu, such as tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

A regular presence at the downtown farmers market, the family also plans to turn the building’s attached garage into a space to sell their fresh vegetables and fruit.

Those plans will be coming down the line though. For now, the Childs are just focused on making pizza for carryout and delivery.

“We’re so excited to continue with this wonderful business and continue bringing you the best pizza in the world,” wrote the Childs on a social media post. “Thanks everyone that supports our small local family business.”
