Downtown Charles City will celebrate the start of fall this week as more than a dozen local businesses participate in the Harvest Moon Festival on Thursday, Sept. 28.
“We wanted something new for fall,” said Darci Tracey, owner of Prologue Books and Wine, who is organizing the downtown event.

From 4-8 p.m., 13 businesses, including Aromas Coffee, Charles City Electronics, Darbe & Co., Dean Jewelers, The McCoy Smoothies, JJ’s Toys, and Cardigan will be participating in the event, each offering a seasonal-themed attraction or special for visitors to enjoy.
Food trucks will line up at the park while cookies and caramel apples can be found for anybody looking for an evening bite to eat.
In addition to the downtown businesses, Otto’s Oasis will be there with a van full of pumpkins for sale while the Floyd County Museum will bring out an antique tractor for people to look at during the evening.
“That will be a real fun photo opportunity,” said Tracey.
From Tellurian Brewing to the Charles City Arts Center to Rustic Corner, the streets will be filled with music, treats, and attractions to enjoy as the community takes in the autumn evening.
“It’s just a fun night downtown,” said Tracey.
