Spirits were high at the Charles City Arts Center as they ushered in the Christmas season with a special reception on Friday, Dec. 1.

Instead of a single featured artist for the month, the December showcase at the Arts Center is the annual Holiday Art Market, featuring a variety of works from several Iowa artists.

Photography, ceramics, water colors, acrylics and more are on display for purchase as an extravagant holiday gift or a small stocking stuffer.

“I’m sure it would fit everybody’s budget,” said Arts Center Director Emily Kiewel.

Coming up this month at the Arts Center, on Dec. 16 will be a Fireside Holiday Reading event where people can come in to share their favorite poems, songs and short stories.

And as Christmas nears, Anders Haglund will be visiting on Dec. 22 for a special holiday musical performance.
