The Charles City Middle School presented its 5-8 Grade Choir Winter Concert in the Comet Gym on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Kicking off the concert was the fifth grade class, directed by Katelyn Kluver with accompaniment by Gail Allison. The kids performed a selection of songs they’ve worked on through the year with a line-up featuring “Rhythm of the Rain,” “Canoe Song, “Canon of Hope,” and “Winter Fantasy.”

Next up the sixth grade class was in the spirit of multiple holidays, starting their session with a Halloween appropriate “Ghost Ship,” and moving on to “Music Alone Shall Live,” “Snow on Snow,” and “I Feel Like Fa La La.”

Finally, the 7/8 Grade Choir, directed by A.J. Weber and accompanied by Melanie Johanningmeier, took to the risers. Their set started off with “Calypso Noel,” followed by “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” with solos from Benjamin Hammond and Cora Elsbury.

The audience was invited to sing along as the 7/8 Grade Choir wrapped things up with the 90’s hit from the Backstreet Boys, “I Want It That Way.”
