A big crowd of kids turned out to enjoy the last Get Messy activity of the year at the Charles City Public Library on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

With a full-roster of sign-ups, the Zastrow Room was packed as families came to craft graham-cracker houses for the holiday.

“It’s like double what it normally is,” said Children’s Librarian Stacy Campbell. “It’s one of my favorite ones to do.”

Setting up a table of candy-based building supplies, kids picked out their decorations and pieced together their edible houses, adding the homes to a tiny Whoville while enjoying a showing of the 1966 animated classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”

Tuesday’s after-school program will be the last Get Messy of the year. Campbell says she’s thinking about activities for the kids to do when the program returns on Jan. 8.
