“This is one of an array of workforce development elements,” said CCADC President Scott Melliere.

“We are collaborating with Iowa Workforce Development, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), Center for Industrial Research and Services (CIRAS) at Iowa State University, American Chamber of Commerce Executives, International Economic Development Council as well as resurrecting the Floyd County Manufacturing Exchange involving our local manufacturers,” Melliere said.

“Explore Manufacturing” candidates will meet with Tim Fox, CEO of the Area Development Corp., who will work with them to develop a strategy for attaining their goals.

This includes items such as interviewing techniques, emphasis on soft skills, how to market yourself to an employer, high school equivalency degree, resume construction and sample interview with a local business representative.

The goal is help people buttress their skills to enhance employability while also increasing the talent pool for area manufacturers, Fox said.

“This individualized career counseling program realizes that no two job seekers are alike and thereby CCADC is striving to provide multi-faceted services for each applicant,” he said.

All Floyd County and Nashua residents are welcome to become involved.

The program’s emphasis is on manufacturing jobs because that sector offers high wages and sound benefits packages, Fox said, and manufacturing operations possess the highest economic impact multipliers.

To become involved in the program or for more information, contact Tim Fox at 641-228-3020 extension 13, or at tfox@charlescityia.com.

Fox said that consultations will take place “within a relaxed atmosphere without interruption or judgement.”
