Charles City Public Library holds Easter activities

The Get Messy program celebrated Easter early this week with a variety of afternoon activities for kids at the Charles City Public Library.
“It was a hopping good time,” said children’s librarian Stacey Leerhoff.
The after-school program began with pastel paper crafts where kids got to make their own decorative art of bunnies and eggs.
After that things got a little sticky as they mixed together food coloring with warm Rice Krispies Treats to mold into a colorful Easter egg-shaped snack.
Finally, the kids raced around the library on the hunt for hidden eggs scattered around the shelves. Four eagle-eyed kids found special extra-sized eggs, granting them their choice of a free book to take home.
There won’t be a Get Messy program next Tuesday, but instead the library will host Family Lego Night from 5 to 7 p.m.
