The hunt was on at the Charles City Elks Lodge as kids came for the Elks’ annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30.
Baskets in hand, kids filed into the lodge, eagerly waiting to be released to the Elks property to find candy-filled eggs.
“We had an excellent turnout,” said lodge member Steve Kincannon, who spearheaded this year’s hunt. “It looks like everybody got a great load of eggs.”
Kincannon and 16 volunteers filled 450 plastic eggs to be hidden around the lodge grounds on Saturday morning.
It took an hour to hide them all and less than 10 minutes for the swarm of kids to pick the property clean before returning to the lodge to count their candy haul while enjoying cookies and drinks.
Coming up for the Elks, the organization will be hosting its annual Youth Banquet on Sunday, May 5, where local youths will be recognized and awarded scholarships from the group.
