Community members sought to help with downtown Charles City Clean-Up Day
Some Spring Clean-Up Days organized by Main Street Charles City are sunny and warm, and some turn out chilly, like this 2022 day. This year’s downtown cleanup will be Saturday, April 20, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Central Park. Press file photo

Main Street Charles City is organizing a Community Volunteer Downtown Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 20th, to help sweep away the winter debris and get the downtown area looking good for all the planned spring and summer activities.

Community residents are invited to bring a broom or leaf blower and meet at Central Park at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

“All ages are welcome to come and lend a hand to help make their town look good,” said Community Development Director Mark Wicks. “Bring a friend or neighbor, or make it a family activity. It’s a great way to give back a little and help make a difference in your community … make it look good for residents and visitors alike!”

The cleanup will focus on Central Park, the Main Street sidewalks and driveway approaches, with additional work on the surrounding downtown area depending on the number of volunteers. A separate Main Street Charles City effort will be done to clean the downtown parking lots at a later date through the Adopt-A-Lot program.

For more information, contact the Main Street Charles City office at 641-228-2335 or email mark@charlescitychamber.com.

“Please bring your own broom or leaf blower to use and dress accordingly to work outside,” Wicks said.
