Charles City Lions Club adds to subscription service flag stock

Charles City Lions Club members spent time Thursday making a new batch of American Flags. Meeting at Mills Inc, the volunteers assembled 75 new 10-foot flag poles to add to their stock and replace older flags.

For six years the Lions Club has offered a “flag subscription,” where businesses and residences are able to have a flag or flags placed for them by club members before  Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day, then have them taken down and stored away when the holidays are over.

“It’s our largest fundraiser,” said Russ Schwarz. “It’s been a real well received project.”
