The Charles City High School String Orchestra and Concert Band hosted their Spring Concert on Monday, April 29, in the Comet Gym.
The String Orchestra kicked things off with “Allegro” followed by “Orion and the Scorpion,” with solos by Gabe Eagan, Kayona Flowers and Lilly Eagan.
Following the performance, seniors Eagan, Flowers and Ava Studer presented instructor Chris Paulson with a gift of coffee and photos to celebrate the end of his first year in Charles City.
Moving on to the Concert Band, the band performed “Scramble” by Todd Stalter, “Luna” by Yukiko Nishimura and “Chase the Shouting Wind” by Vince Gassi.
The graduating seniors of 2024 are Miranda Ayers, Josette Benning, Anton Dittmer, Alex Haus, Madison Haus, Hayden Heyer, Adrian Ibarra, Emily Jones, Taylor Myhre, Taylor Quade and Avery Schoeck. The seniors celebrated their final concert with instructor Jake Gassman by sharing their favorite memories and presenting him with a photo collage.
As is Charles City custom, all of the seniors were presented their own spider plant clipping.
The concert concluded with a combined performance from the band and orchestra, followed by a slideshow of photos from the class.
