The Charles City Arts Center welcomed a big crowd for the premiere of May’s featured exhibit on Friday, May 3.

Local artist Karl Haglund’s new works, “Game Plans etc: Through the Fog Then Down,” will be on display at the Arts Center throughout the month. Featuring around 20 pieces, Haglund’s new collection consists mostly of recent work done within the last six months and focuses mostly on abstract canvas paintings.

“What I’ve been focusing on the most lately is composition and color,” said Haglund, who is also the Arts Center’s assistant director.

Describing the work as a “conversation between himself and the canvas,” the collection is available for both viewing and purchase.
