The Charles City High School theater department will be participating in the 2024 Iowa High School Musical Theater Award Showcase.

Produced by Des Moines Performing Arts, the theater department will be recognized for its production of “Godspell” last November. The showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Thursday, May 30, at 7 p.m., where Charles City will be among 102 schools honored from across the state.

Blake Hoeft and Savannah Baldus will represent Charles City High School by performing in a collaborative inter-school medley led by a guest Broadway music director and choreographer.

The school will be honored with a Production Award for “Distinguished Scene” and Hoeft will receive a special recognition for his performance as “Nick/Thomas Aquinas.”

The Awards Showcase will be live-streamed at IowaPBS.org as part of a collaboration with Iowa PBS. Iowa PBS will also broadcast a highlights special of the event later this summer on dates to be announced.
