FFA members recognized at awards breakfast

The Charles City FFA class recognized its members work this year and selected next year’s officers at the FFA Awards Breakfast on Wednesday, May 8.

Receiving proficiency awards were seniors Taylor Quade for vegetable production, Lukas Vance for poultry production, Hayden Heyer for turfgrass management, Evan Salinas for ag service, Colton Anderegg for beef production, Josette Benning for swine production, Margaret Boss for swine production, Madi Haus for food service, Olivia Krefer for food service, Jada Litterer for swine production, Ameleah McKenna for food service, Lauren Staudt for goat production, Shea Bell for poultry production and Mallory Koebrick for horse production.

Juniors receiving proficiency awards included Isabelle Vance for diversified livestock production, Brayden Ellis for crop production, Jordin Ritter for swine production, Anya Ruzicka for sheep production, Abby Assink for horse production, Ali Blickenderfer for poultry production, Kylie Blunt for swine production, Trevor Carolan for goat production, Dilla Dight for diversified ag production, Xander Graeser for turfgrass production, Jackson Ruzicka for beef production, Everett Schmitt for ag mechanics, Zavier Scott for swine production and Nick Williams for diversified livestock.

For sophomores receiving proficiency awards there was Tegan Cavanaugh for sheep production, Bennett Hansen for sheep production, Ty Hejna for ag mechanics, Kaitlyn Hillegas for rabbit production, Holden McInroy for natural resources, Morgan McMurchy for beef production, Aubrey Michael for horticulture, Ava Molitor for sheep production, Hunter Northrup for beef production, Katlyn Parson for beef production Zach Sonne for forage production and Bryce Walker for forestry management.

Mayze Bruening was recognized as a Star Greenhand.

Bryce Walker was named a Rising Star.

Everett Schmitt was Star Junior.

Josette Benning was Star Senior.

Taylor Quade was Star Farmer

Evan Salinas was Star in Ag Placement.

Hayden Heyer was Star in Ag Business.

Olivia Kreger was Member of the Year.

Madison Haus won the Dekalb Award.

Jada Litterer received the Chapter Leadership Award.

Angie Ruzicka was given an Honorary Chapter Degree.

Amy Staudt was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award.

Pat Barrett and Laura Walker received the Blue and Gold Award.

The FFA team named their officers for the 2024/25 school year, selecting President Trevor Carolan, Vice-President Payton Hadley, Secretary Bryce Walker, Treasurer Everett Schmitt, Reporters Isabelle Vance and Kylie Blunt, Historian Mazie Bruening, Sentinel Xavier Scott, and Student Advisor Dillian Dight.

On the leadership team is Building Leaders Committee Chair Madison Crooks, Growing Community Committee Chair Ava Molitor, and Strengthening Agriculture Committee Chair Hunter Northrup.
