Charles City seniors got a boost to their secondary education plans by receiving nearly 100 scholarships and awards during Senior Recognition Night on Wednesday, May 8.

  • Colton Anderegg received the Allan J. Hastings Scholarship, the Jace Cajthaml Scholarship, the NIACC Foundation Scholarship, and a NIACC Link Scholarship.
  • Kristen Bachman received the Debes Scholarship.
  • Shea Bell received the NIACC Clifford H. Beem Memorial Scholarship, the NIACC Dr. Russell Schurtz Memorial Scholarship, and the NIACC President’s Scholarship.
  • Josette Benning received an Alpha Delta Kappa Darla Arends Scholarship, a Charles City Rotary Club Scholarship, a $20,000 Christina Hixon Opportunity Award, the FCMC Employee Club Scholarship, and a Friends of the Charles City Public Library Scholarship.
  • Morgan Bettesworth received a First Security Bank and Trust Scholarship, a Kate McLeod Educational Fund Scholarship, a NIACC Link Scholarship and the NIACC William Georgou Memorial Scholarship.
  • Keegan Bollman received a Bryan Brandau Memorial Scholarship, an Industrial Technology Scholarship, the NIACC Colin and Carol Robinson Scholarship, NIACC Foundation Area 2 Scholarship and NIACC North Iowa Broadcasting Scholarship.
  • Maggie Boss received the Charles City Class of 1974 Scholarship, a $20,000 Christina Hixon Opportunity Award, a Comet Jerry Scholarship, a Floyd County Farm Bureau Scholarship, the Margaret Wolf Scholarship and the Nashua Garden Club Scholarship.
  • Kayden Buseman received the Philip Vail Carroll and Margaret L. Carrol Scholarship.
  • Jacob Diers received the RJ Hagman Speech Scholarship.
  • Anton Dittmer received full tuition to the University of Iowa from the Tye and Cathy Darland Scholarship and a First Security Bank and Trust Scholarship.
  • Ariana Estrada received a Cora E. Krueger Scholarship.
  • Kayona Flowers received the Charles and Sue Allen Nursing Scholarship, a Helen Koebrick Nursing Scholarship and the Pat Adams Scholarship.
  • Abigail Franzen received a Helen Koebrink Nursing Scholarship.
  • Jack Hanson received a Mike Eckenrod Memorial Scholarship.
  • Claire Girkin received an Alpha Delta Kappa – Darla Arends Scholarship, an American Legion Auxiliary Merit Award, a Cora E. Krueger Scholarship, an Elaine M. Lane Scholarship, the Heartland Power Co-Op Scholarship and a Mark Hruska Memorial Scholarship.
  • Ivan Gopei received the Charles City Noon Kiwanis Scholarship.
  • Shayne Groesbeck received a Mark Hruska Memorial Scholarship.
  • Jack Hanson received a Mike Eckenrod Memorial Scholarship.
  • Alexander Haus received a Comet Jerry Scholarship and the Dorothy Davis Scholarship.
  • Madison Haus received the Wayne and Mayme Swant Scholarship.
  • Hayden Heyer received an Industrial Technology Scholarship, a NIACC Link Scholarship and the Robert Kittleson Scholarship.
  • Hannah Hoffman received the PEO Sisterhood Scholarship and the Robert and Maxine Eggert Scholarship.
  • Kayden Kasemeier received a Kate McLeod Educational Fund Scholarship.
  • Olivia Krueger received a Cora E. Krueger Scholarship.
  • Madison Lensing received the Boeding, Speltz and Wernimont Family Dentistry Scholarship along with the CUSB Bank Scholarship, an Elaine M. Lane Scholarship and the Freda Buchan Scholarship.
  • Jada Litterer received the National Honor Society Scholarship.
  • Jameson Mayhew received the Barry Basuk Scholarship.
  • Taylor Myhre received the Brenton Memorial Music Scholarship.
  • Zadie Pittman received an Alpha Delta Kappa Darla Arends Scholarship, the Charles City Community Education Association Scholarship and the NBJ Corporation Scholarship.
  • Jayden Poyner received the Sukup Manufacturing Scholarship.
  • Taylor Quade received the 2024 Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Award, the Frankenfield 4-H Scholarship, the Alliant Energy Children of Employees Scholarship, an Alpha Delta Kappa Darla Arends Scholarship, an American Legion Auxiliary Merit Award, a Charles City Rotary Club Scholarship, the Fidelity Bank and Trust Scholarship, the Floyd County Cattlemen Scholarship, a Floyd County Farm Bureau Scholarship, the Frankenfield 4-H Scholarship, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship, a NIACC Link Scholarship and a NIACC John and Donna Hitzhusen Scholarship.
  • Gabriel Rogstad received a NIACC Link Scholarship.
  • Evan Salinas received a Bryan Brandau Memorial Scholarship.
  • Avery Schoeck received the Bruce Crooks Memorial Scholarship and an Industrial Technology Scholarship.
  • Ava Studer received a Friends of the Charles City Public Library Scholarship.
  • Ava Thompson received a Mike Eckenrod Memorial Scholarship.
  • Isaac Thompson received the Bill Burge Scholarship, an Elaine M. Lane Scholarship, a Friends of the Charles City Public Library Scholarship, the Michael Backer Memorial Scholarship, the NIACC Athletic Scholarship, a NIACC Link Scholarship and a NIACC John and Donna Hitzhusen Scholarship.
  • Lukas Vance received a NIACC Link Scholarship.
  • Alexandria Wohlers received the Charles City Class of 1985 Scholarship, the Minnie Jane Sylvester Scholarship and a First Security Bank and Trust Scholarship.

According to high school counselor Casey Brandau, more than $300,000 was awarded to students this year including Dollars for Scholars, NIACC and local scholarship opportunities.
