Charles City Middle School students brightened up the evening with the Colores Del Mundo concert on Tuesday, May 14.
“Tonight we are celebrating peace, friendship and diversity,” said music instructor Katelyn Kluver, who directed the Fifth Grade Choir through a selection of color-themed songs like “All the Beautiful Colors,” “The World is a Beautiful Place,” Disney’s “Colors of the Wind,” and “Shine Your Light.”
Continuing the theme with the Sixth Grade Choir, Renner Kober and Kendall Harris were featured soloists for “Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World.” The 6th graders also performed another Disney hit, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” along with “Dona Nobis Pacem” and “Amani Utepe.”
Kluver also gave special recognition during the concert to accompanist Melanie Johanningmeier, who played piano alongside the students, and student helper Morgan Bettesworth, who assisted with the middle school chorus.
Finishing up with the seventh and eighth graders, music instructor AJ Weber directed the chorus in “Storm,” with percussion from Sean Jones; “Homeward Bound; and Toto’s “Africa,” with Nick Williams on drums.
