AMR Charles City invited the community to join them for an evening of fun for kids on Wednesday, May 22.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of National EMS Week, the ambulance crew decked out the firefighter/EMS station with games and activities for kids to enjoy while inviting the public to meet with first responders in a more casual setting than usual.
“We have a lot of dedicated individuals that answer calls for service 24 hours a day,” said station supervisor Dawn Staudt. “We want people to know how important EMS is to the community.”
With food, games, crafts, door prizes, station tours, and even a selection of bouncy houses, there was plenty for kids to enjoy for the evening event, which thankfully saw considerably more pleasant weather than the previous night’s storms.
“It’s a fun thing for the crew to interact with the public,” said EMT Lyle Staudt.
