A pleasant end of the day was made more so with the addition of a lively selection of band music, as the Charles City Municipal Band presented its second concert of the 2024 season on a beautiful Sunday evening, June 16.
This concert was under the direction of Scott Stroud, the band director for Nashua-Plainfield Schools, and presented an eclectic collection of songs including old standards, marches, opera and a selection from the musical, “Les Miserables.”
The next concert will be the annual patriotic concert, presented on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4, behind the Charles City Public Library above the bank of the Cedar River.
That concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., preceding the community fireworks display at 10 p.m., and will be under the direction of Melissa Meyer, director of bands at Turkey Valley and a member of the Charles City Municipal Band flute section.
