Charles City Independence Day Week Celebration Schedule of Events
(Events are in and around Central Park unless listed otherwise.)

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3

  • 9 a.m.-4 p.m. – Floyd County Museum Kids Day; kids admitted to museum free.
  • 10:30 a.m. – Kids Day Parade; signup begins at 10 a.m.; followed by McDonald’s lunch and free games.
  • Noon – Kids Day stage show, “Absolute Science.”
  • 1-6 p.m. – Free inflatables, rides, miscellaneous activities; music by TB Continued Entertainment; 12 food vendors.
  • 2:30 p.m. – Youth Sand Volleyball Tournament.
  • 3:30 to 6 p.m. – Charles City Farmers Market.
  • 4 p.m. – Beer garden opens.
  • 6 p.m. – Hot Dog Eating Contest.
  • 7-8:30 p.m. – Live performance by Sheltered Reality Steel Drum Corps.

THURSDAY, JULY 4

  • 7:30 a.m. – Firecracker 5K starts at Charles City High School track.
  • 11 a.m. – Independence Day Parade; staging 8-10:30 a.m.; new downtown route.
  • Noon – Food vendors, beer garden and activities.
  • Noon-4 p.m. – Live music by Bad Dog 20/20.
  • 12:30 p.m. – Adult Co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament; Chamber parking lot.
  • 2 p.m. – Watermelon Eating Contest.
  • 7:30 p.m. – Municipal Band Concert; behind the library.
  • 10 p.m. – Fireworks downtown from the bridge over the Cedar River.

FRIDAY, JULY 5

  • 5-9 p.m. – Party in the Park, with food vendors, beer garden, activities, booths, live music by Mike Bernard & the Midwest Made.

SATURDAY, JULY 6

  • 7:30 a.m. – Charles City Bicycle Ride; registration at 7:30 a.m. at First Security Bank parking lot.
  • 9 a.m.-noon – Charles City Farmers Market.
  • Noon – Food vendors and activities.
  • 4 p.m. – Beverage garden opens.
  • 4 p.m. – Eric Michaels Magic Show.
  • 5 p.m. – Cornhole Tournament.
  • 5-9 p.m. – Live music by BPM.
