The Charles City Fire Department received a pallet of canned water last week courtesy of Anheuser-Busch. While globally known for brewing beer, Anheuser-Busch has a long history of distributing extra water for use during natural disasters. Recently, the company has started reaching out to volunteer fire departments interested in applying for a grant to receive a pallet of canned water for their own use. Charles City was one of three fire departments in the area to be selected this year.

“If they want to use it for fire calls or keep it on hand in case of an emergency, it’s up to the fire department,” said Nolan Peters, a sales associate with Kabrick.

Delivered on Friday, June 28, by Kabrick Distributing, the fire department received a pallet of 98 cases of canned water. At 24 cans per case, that is 2,352 cans for the firefighters to use.
