Floyd County Medical Center has announced three new providers have started offering care at the Medical Center and Clinic, including a physician and two certified nurse practitioners.

Dr. Janean Wedeking, D.O., has joined FCMC as a family medicine provider. She was born and raised in Iowa, and completed her undergraduate degree at Wartburg College in Waverly where she met her husband Derek, from Clarksville.
She completed her medical degree at Des Moines University, and her family medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. Following that she served for the Air Force as an outpatient family medicine physician at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
Wedeking said she became a family medicine physician because she truly loves developing Long-lasting relationships with her patients and wants to care for the whole family from birth until death. She has a special interest in holistic women’s health, obstetrical care and breastfeeding medicine.
During her training she obtained her certification to become an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and recently became board-certified in breastfeeding medicine (NABBLM-C). She has given several lectures in the Midwest and is currently on the board of directors for the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Wedeking to Charles City and Floyd County Medical Center,” said Medical Center CEO Dawnett Willis. “Her passion for rural family medicine including obstetrics is genuine. She is an exceptional new member of our medical community, who will undoubtedly continue the advancement of quality, personalized health care with compassion for all of her patients.”
Wedeking said she is excited to practice medicine in Charles City. As an osteopathic physician she practices in a holistic way, incorporating all facets of physical, emotional, social and mental well-being into her practice.
She said she appreciates the team at FCMC, and believes they have a lot to offer.
Wedeking and her family live on a 10-acre farm north of Charles City. She has been married to Derek for almost 12 years and they have three young children, ages 8, 5 and 2, who will be attending the local public school.
She said they enjoy staying active, working out, spending time with family and practicing sustainable living as much as possible, and hope to raise some chickens and cows on their small farm soon.

The Floyd County Medical Center also announced Candace Deverell, ARNP, CNP, and Roger Barillas, ARNP, as the Medical Center’s new urgent care providers.
Deverell graduated from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, in 2017. She then worked in family practice for four years before transitioning to urgent care, and she has worked in the urgent care setting in Pennsylvania for the past two years.
“Candace brings extensive expertise and dedication to our team,” said CEO Willis. “Her broad skill set will enhance our health care services, ensuring excellent patient care.”
Deverell is married to Samuel Deverell, who was raised in Charles City. Her family relocated to Charles City in June, and their youngest daughter still lives at home.
Barillas has more than 20 years’ experience working in family practice and urgent care settings. He is an ANCC board-certified family nurse practitioner.
Barillas holds a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Iowa. He is an Army veteran and speaks Spanish fluently.
“Roger provides top-notch medical care to our community,” said Jonathan Perin, FCMC’s chief ambulatory officer. “His expertise will enhance our services, ensuring comprehensive and compassionate care for all patients.”
Roger spends his free time on road trips with his family, traveling abroad, eating street food and riding his motorcycle.
