“In The Family Of Things,” a collaborative exhibit by artists Angela Waseskuk and Minako Shirakura, will open Friday, July 5, at the Charles City Arts Center.

The opening reception from 5-7 p.m. is free and open to the public, thanks to event sponsor The Rustic Corner.

The exhibit will feature a variety of work and mediums both collaborative and individual. There will also be a plan for those in attendance to collaborate as well. Part of their collaborative work involves drawing birds from memory and attendees will have a chance to do that and add their work to a display.

Shirakura currently lives in Japan and will not be attendance. She has exhibited her multi-medium work in many different countries.

Waseskuk works primarily in drawing and textiles in her Iowa studio.

“The exhibit will have something for everyone, exploring ideas of human moments and finding the extraordinary in the ordinary,” said Arts Center Assistant Director Karl Haglund.

The exhibit will be up through the month of July.

The Charles City Arts Center is located at 301 N. Jackson Street across from Central Park. Call 641-228-6284 or contact charlescityarts@gmail.com for more information.
