Zoetis Charles City starts busy summer with new site lead

To The Press

Zoetis Charles City has announced a new site leader, Amanda McCarty, a 25-year resident of the community who has been with the company for more than two decades.

The former site lead, Bill Sehi, has moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to oversee the Zoetis site operation there.

McCarty lives in Charles City with her husband, Mike, and two sons, Quinn and Patrick, who are enrolled in Charles City schools, and her golden retriever Millie. Her stepson, Sam, is an attorney in Denver, Colorado.

McCarty also serves as one of the trustees of Floyd County Medical Center and is an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and the elementary school.

McCarty has moved through the ranks at Zoetis, starting from her early days as part of the Technical Transfers Process Improvement (TTPI) Team. From there she moved through quality control into her former position as supply chain/materials management director, and now to site lead.

Zoetis is one of Floyd County’s largest employers with more than 500 colleagues and is currently involved in an expansion to increase production capacity for poultry vaccines.

“I am excited for this new role and opportunity as the site lead,” McCarty said. “I am very passionate about the business and Zoetis’s purpose. As our site continues to grow I look forward to the continued partnership with the Charles City community and surrounding areas.”

Some of the company’s recent involvements in the community include:

  • Across the road from the facility, at the “Zoetis Ball Diamonds,” the company partnered with the Charles City Baseball Club to install outfield fences and scoreboards. The fields are used four nights per week in the summer for games by the club, and are also regularly used for team and family practices.
  • The Zoetis site hosted students from several local school districts in May, educating them on businesses and opportunities in Charles City.
  • Zoetis interns hosted a grill-out and invited S&S Locker and the Floyd County Cattlemen to showcase their services.
  • A Zoetis Career Fair is scheduled on site on July 11, open to all interested to explore career opportunities at Zoetis.
  • Zoetis plans to continue sponsoring or volunteering at numerous area events this summer.

The Zoetis Charles City site has been through some significant changes recently, but the company said the goals and core beliefs of the business have remained the same – to nurture the world and humankind by advancing care for animals.
