A Mason City man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following an alleged shooting incident in rural Floyd County.

According to a press release from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, July 9, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at a residence southeast of Charles City.

Soon after, they located the reported suspect, Evan Stalker, 30, of Mason City. A search warrant conducted on the vehicle, along with a second search warrant in Mason City the next day, allegedly resulted in evidence being located.

According to the criminal complaints filed in Floyd County District Court, Stalker is said to have threatened to “shoot up” the house in question before deputies later responded to the report of shots fired at the residence.

Stalker is currently in jail being held without bond, and he has been charged with five Class B felony counts of attempted murder, one Class D felony count of control of a firearm by prohibited person, one aggravated misdemeanor count of harassment in the first degree, and four simple misdemeanor counts of violating a no contact order.
