The Cedar Valley Engine Club is revving up for another big weekend as the 59th Annual Threshers Reunion draws near.
Volunteer members have been busy setting up for the three-day event, which begins on Saturday, Aug. 31, and goes through Monday, Sept. 2, at 7-mile corner just off Highway 14.
“We’re progressing,” said Kelly Barnett on Thursday as scattered volunteers roamed the acreage making sure everything was in place for the weekend. The grounds are already lined up with dozens of antique tractors, with International Harvester being this year’s featured brand of machine.
The club has been busy this summer constructing a new storage building to house its ever expanding collection of antique engines. Most of the building is complete, but there are still a few rings to put up and a back wall to install.
New to this year’s show is an antique steam engine. Built in 1916, the steam engine is a new acquisition by Steve Montag and will be put to work on a threshing machine this weekend for demonstrations.
