Charles City students aren’t the only ones getting to used to the first week of school. Charles City High School Principal Levi Crawford-Miller is enjoying his first week as a school administrator.
“I’m loving it,” said Crawford-Miller. “It’s been a great start to the school year for students and staff.”
For the last nine years Crawford-Miller has been a teacher at Nashua-Plainfield, where he taught business, coached baseball, and was involved in professional development with his peers.
Stepping into the role of administrator, Crawford-Miller is getting to know the students and staff of Charles City as he launches the next step of his education career.
“It’s been off to a really good start,” he said. “We have a really good staff and really good kids.”
Born and raised in Humboldt, Crawford-Miller comes from a family of educators. His mother, father, brother, sister-in-law, and wife are all teachers.
“That was a seed planted in my mind at a young age,” he said.
Crawford-Miller says that his lifelong exposure to education professionals is an advantage, giving him insight on how to see situations from many different angles and understand perspectives from both teachers and students.
“They’re going to find me to be pretty consistent,” said Crawford-Miller.
He says he doesn’t have any plans to rock the boat with any major initiatives and is focused on getting to know the people in his building and making sure they feel comfortable.
“My main goal is making sure that school is a safe place,” said Crawford-Miller.
